This is my son's science project. Ita a laser burglar alarm. The beam bounces around the mirrors and then ends up at a phototcell. A circuit detects when the beam is broken and sounds an alarm. The alarm latches (stays on) until a reset button is pressed. Its run by a PIC12F629.

IBM Laptops

Over the last several months, my kids have been buying and selling used laptops. Some from a local resale shop, and some from Ebay. So far, all but one have been IBM's. Seems like only IBM's have the quality to hang in there after all these years. I took one apart today and it is a nice piece of engineering.
